What is Safety Start?
The Safety Start Program is a two (2) day health and safety training
program that will give participants 14 hours of training in Occupational
Health and Safety and First Aid, including CPR. It is offered at no cost to the participants.
What will I learn?
The program will consist of:

7 hours of Occupational Health and Safety training which includes; legal rights
and responsibilities for safety, causes of incidents, and the primary skills to
identify and manage workplace risks, and
-
7 hours of basic First Aid.
Why was the Safety Start Program initiated?
The program is aimed at decreasing the number of injuries sustained by
people in the workplace while empowering them with the information,
knowledge and confidence to enable them to be fully contributing partners with
the workplace health and safety goals of their employers.
Who will deliver the training?
The Safety Start Program will be delivered by the Canadian Red Cross,
St. John Ambulance, Association of Safety and Health Consultants and Trainers
(ASHCAT), and Safety Services New Brunswick. Each session requires a minimum of twelve
or a maximum of sixteen participants.
